Bruce brings considerable experience in the Financial Services industry with particularly deep operating and managerial experience within the insurance area. Bruce was the CEO of Eastern Insurance Holding Company from 1997 to 2011 and was the founder of its predecessor company in 1987. Eastern Insurance became a NASDAQ listed company in 2006 in connection with its merger and conversion of of Educators Mutual Life Insurance Company. During his tenure as founder and CEO, Bruce oversaw a multi-state marketing expansion and managed a myriad of initiatives focused on workers’ compensation, environmental reinsurance and captive insurance services. In 1983, Bruce co-founded Employers Alliance, Inc., which is an indirect subsidiary of the company that handled claims administration and other third-party services.
Bruce is a graduate of Yale University and has a JD from the Dickinson School of Law. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970 and is a Vietnam veteran. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Philadelphia Contributionship Insurance Companies and Vector Security.
