Bill has an interest in the area of financial technology, wireless, and information security. Bill Carson is a Managing Director at Hudson Ventures, a NYC-based venture capital firm where he was responsible for Hudson’s investment in Pivot (acquired by Chicago Mercantile Exchange) and Guardent (acquired by Verisign).
Prior to Hudson Ventures, Bill ran Citigroup’s Strategic Investment Group, making financial technology-based investments in Mobileway (acquired by Sybase), Paytrust (acquired by Metavante), 724 Solutions (IPO), and Transpoint (acquired by CheckFree). Prior to the Strategic Investment Fund, Bill co-founded a $100 million Technology Investment Fund within Citigroup covering a wide range of technology companies yielding a 71% IRR and a three times return on capital.
Bill is a founding board member for FiTeq, a Californian-based financial technology company that has developed a technology to reduce credit card fraud, and he also sits on the advisory boards of several NJ-based technology companies. In addition to his venture capital experience, Bill led Citigroup’s internal M&A group during the 1990’s where he was involved in all deals including the Travelers-Citicorp merger, the acquisition of AT&T’s Universal Credit card business and numerous bank acquisitions, securities processing and information services transactions.
Bill has undergraduate degrees in both engineering and economics from the University of Notre Dame and earned a MBA from the University of Chicago. He currently represents Hudson on the Board of Directors of Integral Development.
